Blue Berries in a Green Egg

Delish, delish, blueberry cobbler!
On the Big Green Egg!

Yes, that is my belly...
Yumm! With vanilla frozen yogurt. Just would have liked a higher berry ratio. Next time!

Pregnancy Craving

Not that I am about to lie and pretend that I ONLY crave it during pregnancy. However, I have decided that my "craving" has got to be to be chocolate covered caramel. Preferably chewy caramel covered in dark chocolate. With some sort of salt - be it sea or a variety of other funky flavors they make out there. One or two of these delectable pieces will satisfy a craving.

Yet in contrast to my preference for the gourmet, I have found a very worthy substitute in the form of Milk Duds. It does require an entire movie theater box to satisfy the same craving, however. Oliver may be predisposed to a love for the candy, and for the inevitable experience of pulling out one's own filling someday...

What to do with Basil

I planted my new raised bed with an excessive number of basil plants. 7 to be exact, with 4 varieties. I thought that maybe some would survive and some wouldn't. They're all doing great.
And one can only make so many Caprese Salads. So, in preparation for after we have the baby, I created another frozen meal - Pesto!
I whipped up enough for several meals and left out the cheese, because apparently that doesn't freeze well. And I froze it into ice cube trays for easier thawing and portions. We'll pop them into freezer bags when they're done. Kinda excited for the chaos to be here!

What in the heck is that??

Why, it's a Big Green Egg, of course!
Otherwise known as Mitchell's new toy.
Hopefully it doesn't turn into one of those "I swear I'll feed and walk and take care of it and love it every day, then to only become a faded memory as soon as something else comes along" sorts of things. But alas, as I own a metal detector and Rosetta Stone, both of which have barely made it out of their packaging, I am not really one to talk. And since we're on to meal #5 in the smoker, things look promising. We started with salmon, which was actually good, but Mitchell hates salmon, so that was kind of sad. And we had some over-cooked bison steaks, but who knows how to cook buffalo, anyway? And then we had pizza night, in which we learned about the importance of seasoning a new pizza stone - as the pizza would literally not remove itself from the stone. The second pizza we made on the neighbor's stone that is well-used, and that turned out to be delicious. Last night we had chicken sausages that were DELICIOUS.
And TONIGHT - it's pork ribs and chocolate chip cookies! Ribs: 2 1/2 hours in the rack with rub, 2 hours on the grill basted with apple juice and BBQ sauce. Messy and delicious.
RIP Trager Smoker. Hope you like your new home.
