Halloween is our Holiday

For those of you who don't know - Mitchell and I met at a Halloween party - both dressed as pirates. Because of this, Halloween holds a special place in our hearts. Mitchell went all out this year decorating the house. Doesn't yet compare to Christmas, but we'll get there. We even had a fog machine. My only contribution was my pumpkin with spray paint stem, covered in mod podge with sequin spiderweb. I would totally mod podge next year to avoid carving, but would rethink the sequins - they require a bit of tedious application....

As for celebrating, we attended the same Halloween party that we met at, and MY how times have changed. We scored an invite because we have a kid now. It's from 3 to 5:00 on a Sunday. The keg Mitchell and I once met next to has been replaced by cookie and mini pumpkin decorating for the kids. Pretty funny, but still fun. Oliver and I wore matching skeleton costumes.

We attended the Sellwood Monster March for the first time, where we saw kids from all over Portland parading by in their costumes, right in our neighborhood. We opted for the sidelines with the little one. Oliver's first parade!

And for Halloween, Aunt Kerry came over in one of my old dance costumes and we handed out candy. Oliver is a little young to go trick-or-treating. But we actually had trick-or-treaters come to our house this year! We handed out full-sized candy bars to the neighbor kids, and I scored with many of the moms with handing out little play doh containers. The family dressed as a football, Duck football player, and Duck fan.

Happy Holidays!
