Not the Mommy

So, the latest phase in Oliver's 2 months of life is that he really doesn't want anyone holding him other than his mom and dad, and even then, if he gets upset only his mom can calm him down. It's pretty exhausting to be the only one who can calm him down, and nearly the only one that can even hold him. There goes leaving him with someone to babysit, and now is supposed to be the time to do that before they hit the "stranger danger" phase. Boo.

Compiling some unofficial research together, my best guess is that he's about to make a developmental leap - I'm hoping for smiling in response to things, or finding his hands - which is overwhelming, and therefore he wants to be with the person he is most comfortable with. He cries because he can't talk and he can't just walk himself away. Sigh. Here's to hoping it's a short phase, and thank the lord that he loves his swing and other baby holders....
